Dillon Candy Company is celebrating 100 years of knowing how to satisfy sweet tooths with our variety of gourmet brittles and specialty nut confections. George Dillon began making candy in the back room of a grocery store in Brunswick Georgia in 1918. Since that time the Dillon family's craft of fashioning handmade brittles and nut candies has continued to locations in Thomasville Georgia, Jacksonville Florida, and since 1956 in Boston Georgia. Currently the founder's grandson, Tom Cook, continues a three generation tradition of candy making excellence.
In the 1950's, Grandfather Dillon, a few years after retiring from Jacksonville and moving to Boston, began working with a candy furnace and copper kettle in a converted horse barn behind the family residence. Soon, family members began helping produce and package the candies, which were delivered to area merchants. In 1983, after his death, his wife and daughter incorporated the business and initiated a controlled but steady expansion of sales and markets.
Today Dillon Candy Company is a small, specialty manufacturer of gourmet-quality, nut & fruit candies. Products are still made using procedures much like the original methods. The methods are carefully monitored "to ensure consistently high quality." Small batches are hand-stirred and cooked in open kettles; brittles are hand-stretched; and nut rolls are hand-worked utilizing quality pecans, cashews, and peanuts. Enjoy!
